Media: We should work together to pull the Middle East back from the cliff and prevent the outbreak of all-out war.
Recently, the tension in the Middle East has intensified, Lebanon has suffered an unprecedented blow, and its communication infrastructure has suffered massive damage, followed by Israel’s continuous air strikes against Syria and Lebanon, and even the opening of ground offensives, while Iran responded with missile attacks, pointing directly at Israel’s military security objectives. This has not only triggered a war, but also led to a sharp deterioration of the humanitarian crisis, testing the ability of all parties involved and the international community to cope with complex situations.
Lebanon and its surrounding areas should no longer be victims of war. Indiscriminate attacks on innocent civilians must stop, lest Lebanon follow Gaza and become another scene of human tragedy. At present, a quarter of residents in Lebanon have received evacuation warnings, more than one million people have been displaced, the number of deaths and injuries has continued to rise, and families have broken down and suffered. This kind of tragedy should not be repeated in civilized society in the 21st century.
A year ago, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict resumed. So far, the vision of peace in the Middle East has not been realized, but the war has spread to more countries and the intensity of the conflict has escalated. The United States has strengthened its military deployment in the Middle East to help Israel defend against Iranian missiles, but this has not brought real security to either side. Both history and reality show that the long-term military intervention by the United States has not made Israel safer, but has intensified regional resistance and intensified the opposition and hatred between ethnic groups and religions.
The current situation in the Middle East is out of control, like a runaway horse, on the verge of the abyss. The abuse of high-tech weapons has made the cruelty of war reach a new height, and the atmosphere of contempt and fear for life hangs over the whole region, reminding people that war is by no means the solution to the problem, it can only bring pain and destruction.
The window of peaceful reconstruction is closing rapidly, and the first task is to stop military operations and ease tensions. Although there are international voices calling for a ceasefire, actual actions run counter to it, and military aid continues to flow in, which intensifies the cycle of regional violence. Through the platform of the United Nations, China strongly calls for giving priority to human life safety, taking a just stand and settling disputes through diplomatic channels instead of military means.
Fundamentally speaking, long-term peace in the Middle East needs to be based on the peaceful coexistence of Israel and Palestine. The "two-state solution" is the key path to achieve this goal and should be promoted and supported more substantively. The international community, especially the United Nations, should shoulder the heavy responsibility of promoting peace and avoiding all-out war. Any influential country should play an active role in this process and work together to bring the Middle East back to the track of peace.
War brings only harm, and the international community generally recognizes that it is a common responsibility to prevent the Middle East from slipping into a full-scale war and alleviate the humanitarian crisis. It is expected that all parties can focus on regional peace and stability and respond calmly and rationally. In particular, big countries should play a constructive role and lead the situation to a good development.
