FAW-Volkswagen Chengdu Engine Factory will put into production a new 1.5T turbocharged engine next year, which will fully replace the current 1.4T engine, with an annual production capacity of 600,000 units. In terms of power parameters, the maximum power of the 1.5T engine reaches 118kW, which is 8kW higher than the 1.4T engine. In addition, due to the use of more advanced technology, the fuel consumption level of the new car has also been optimized.

At present, the European version of Maiteng (PASSTA) has used the 1.5T turbocharged engine, and the mid-term replacement Maiteng, which is expected to go on sale at the end of last year, will also be replaced with this engine next year. Although compared with its own 1.4T turbocharged engine, the power parameters of FAW-Volkswagen’s new 1.5T engine have been improved to a certain extent. However, compared with the 1.5T engine currently used by mainstream joint venture brands on the market, the Volkswagen 1.5T engine does not have an advantage in power parameters. In addition, in terms of styling, considering that the mid-term model Maiteng was only launched at the end of last year, the 1.5T version that is expected to be launched next year will not make major adjustments in styling, and is basically in line with the current model.

In terms of the market, the mid-term replacement Maiteng currently on sale in Beijing has an end point discount of 1.5-2 0 yuan, which is more cost-effective than the main competitors of the same level, Honda Accord and Toyota Camry. For consumers, if they don’t want to wait until next year to buy Maiteng 1.5T version, the current model is also a good choice.
