Porsche’s new Taycan explained in detail

Depending on an individual’s driving style as well as other variables, this can reduce the time required to charge from 10% to 80% by half compared to the previous generation car. In the first generation Taycan, it took 37 minutes to charge from 10% SOC to 80% at 15. Under the same conditions, the updated Taycan, despite its larger battery capacity, takes only 18 minutes. The total capacity of the Battery Plus has now increased from 93 kWh to 105 kWh.
4. New type of active chassis
Adaptive is standard on all updated Taycan models. The new Porsche Active Ride suspension can be ordered as an option in the all-wheel drive version. The system offers unprecedented adjustment between driving comfort and driving dynamics.
The suspension maintains the Taycan’s body level at all times, even during dynamic braking, steering and acceleration operations. During smooth driving, the system absorbs bumps almost entirely. In dynamic driving situations, the Porsche Active Ride suspension ensures a near-perfect connection to the road surface through a balanced distribution of wheel loads. If the appropriate modes are activated, the suspension compensates for pitching and rolling movements in order to reduce the acceleration forces acting on the occupant.
5. Higher energy efficiency
Advanced powertrain with new rear axle motors, all models with 80 kW more power than their predecessors, optimized pulse inverters and optimized software, more powerful batteries, improved thermal management, next generation, and improved recovery and all-wheel drive strategies.
Maximum energy recovery at high speed deceleration has been increased by more than 30%, from 290 kW to up to 400 kW. All models now come standard with optimized wheels and tires with less rolling resistance. New 21-inch wheels and tires have been specially developed for this purpose.
6. Higher configuration, lower weight
Although these models weigh 15 kilograms less, the standard features are more abundant than before. Ambient lighting, parking assistance system with mirror surround lighting, electric folding exterior mirrors with mirror surround lighting, heated front seats, Porsche Intelligent Mileage Manager (PIRM), heat pump with new cooling system, smartphone tray for wireless charging, charging ports at the driver and front passenger side, driving mode switch and enhanced power steering are now standard.
The Taycan base model now comes standard with adaptive air suspension and aluminum threshold protection. In addition to the upgraded configuration, the improved specs include a battery with increased capacity but reduced weight.
7. More attractive designs
With new front and rear styling, as well as new headlights and taillights, Porsche has further polished the Taycan’s clean, pure design. New front fenders and flatter headlights accentuate the width of the Taycan even more.
The new headlights feature high-resolution high definition matrix technology and more sophisticated optics that now display the brand’s unique four-point graphics at night. The Porsche logo in the rear light strip features a three-dimensional glass exterior design. An illuminated version of the car with welcome/leave animations is presented for the first time.
8. Updated controls and displays
The instrument cluster, center display and optional passenger display feature an optimized user interface and additional features. The mode switch on the steering wheel is now standard. For Taycan models with the Sport Chrono kit and Performance Battery Plus, there is a special push-to-talk button on the mode switch.
Control of the driver assistance system is more intuitive with a new lever on the left side of the steering wheel. Apple CarPlay has been more deeply integrated into the display and functions of the vehicle. The new in-car video feature enables video streaming on the center display and passenger display.
